Charitable Institutions Fund
In the notice relative to "A Sanatorium in the West," published in the Christian Science Sentinel of February 19, 1927, it was not intended to imply, as some have evidently felt, that contributions to this institution are not welcome from the entire field, but rather to register the substantial indications of the hearty interest that the Christian Scientists on the Pacific Coast evidenced in the proposed undertaking, and to give a word of caution against diverting necessary contributions from The Christian Science Benevolent Association at Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, and from The Christian Science Pleasant View Home at Concord, New Hampshire, which is now under construction.
All institutions organized by The Mother Church welcome and invite the moral and financial support of every Christian Scientist, and with this in view a fund was established some time ago, and announced in the Sentinel of February 27, 1926, called the Charitable Institutions Fund, from which contributions may be apportioned by The Christian Science Board of Directors, as the needs appear, for any of the present or future charitable institutions of The Mother Church, such as The Christian Science Benevolent Association, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, The Christian Science Pleasant View Home, Concord, New Hampshire, and the proposed sanatorium on the Pacific Coast, or for any other similar institutions which may be established.
Provision is also made for those who prefer to make specific gifts to any one of the above-mentioned institutions of The Mother Church; but many, we feel sure, have welcomed the establishment of the Charitable Institutions Fund, and realize that through its broad scope the greatest need of our institutions from time to time may be more satisfactorily met, and the universal and united interest in our common Cause be demonstrated.
