When Christian Science first came into my life I was a dissatisfied, restless, temperamental woman, constantly looking for health and happiness and finding them not, for I was looking for them in materiality. I had tried allopathic, homeopathic, and osteopathic doctors, but gained only temporary relief, and had settled down into semi-invalidism. My family and friends considered that I had a delicate constitution, subject to contagious disease; so, of course, I was continually suffering from some form of disease.
Since childhood I had been subject to very distressing sick headaches, and would be confined to the house constantly in winter with colds and grippe; and there were other disorders, for which I had one operation and medical attention constantly. I had worn glasses for nine years. Since beginning to study Christian Science these troubles have almost all slipped away, until I can hardly believe myself the same woman. I have had no need of glasses since I began attending Christian Science services—that healing came almost instantaneously. My general health is wonderfully good; I hardly know what it means to have a cold or headache; and I have learned, as Mrs. Eddy tells us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 385), that "whatever it is your duty to do, you can do without harm to yourself."
Needless to say, I greatly appreciate all this physical freedom; but I am much more grateful for the regeneration of thought which gives me glimpses of heaven, bringing harmony into our home by chasing out worry and discord, and giving me the desire to acknowledge God in all my ways and to demonstrate and prove loyal to the teachings of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. I am also grateful for class instruction, and for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, with all the work that it entails.—(Mrs.) IDA J. KELLER, Santa Rosa, California.
