[Written for the Sentinel]

Our Task

FOR every tear there is a smile somewhere;
For every sigh, a song of sweetest cheer;
For every sorrow, healing in God's love;
For every fear, the thought that He is near.

For every unkind word there's friendliness;
And there is love for every thought of hate;
For every disappointment there is hope;
Good brings its own reward, if we will wait.

Oh, what a wondrous world if we would change
Each thought of ill for one that's good and true,
Transforming life into a glorious thing!
And is not this what God would have us do?
