I want to acknowledge the help I have received through...
I want to acknowledge the help I have received through the study of Christian Science. I had a healing from nervousness about ten years ago. After everything else had failed to bring health and happiness I took up the study at the darkest time in my life.
I want to tell of another experience which never will be forgotten. My mother and I were on our way to commencement exercises when I realized that we had been mistreated. I began to deny this, and tried to know the truth. When mentioned, I said, "Oh! Let us not talk about it." I enjoyed the exercises and felt rather proud that I had forgotten the wrong so quickly. That night after I went to bed a flood of wrong thoughts began to talk to me of self-pity, resentment, and hatred. For a moment I was most miserable. I, however, refused to think of anything but good. A peace came over me that passed "all understanding," and the words also came to me with such meaning, "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." My heart overflowed with gratitude that I had some understanding of Christian Science.
This Science has been such a help to me in business. I am trying to know that good business is not altogether how much merchandise we sell, but how much love, patience, and kindness we live. If at the close of a day we have delivered every telephone message in love, and have expressed love to everybody who has come into our place of business, then we have accomplished something that is enduring. I have not overcome all error, but I am so grateful for the good I have received. I love the Monitor and the other Christian Science periodicals. So many times I get one just at the time when it is most needed.
