About fifteen years ago a little child led me into the light of Christian Science, which since then has dispelled many doubts and fears, has been our only physician, and has never failed to be an ever present help in daily problems. I have been healed of neuralgic headaches, bowel trouble, rheumatism, backache, and other diseases. Doubts and fears have been replaced with confidence and courage, for which I am most grateful; but my deepest joy in the sincere application of the truth of being as expounded in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, is the gradual disappearance of undesirable traits of character through the understanding of my true relationship to God, which understanding has given me an indefinable sense of peace and joy and a clearer discernment of God as All-in-all.
I am daily striving to be obedient to the clear, simple teachings of our beloved Leader, thus to attest my gratitude for the inspired wisdom which gave us the Rules and By-laws of the Manual of The Mother Church, "to maintain the dignity and defense of our Cause" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 148). I am grateful also for all the authorized Christian Science literature; for the great privilege of membership in The Mother Church and a branch church; for our efficient Board of Directors and Board of Lectureship; for the consecrated lives and loving help of loyal Christian Science practitioners; for the Sunday services; for the great blessings bestowed upon my four children through Sunday school teaching; for the Wednesday evening testimony meetings; for much peace and rest experienced on occasional visits to our Reading Rooms—yea, even for every good gift of God to this age. "I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me."—(Mrs.) KATHARINE MILLS PITFIELD, Greenfield, Massachusetts.
