Healing Requisite

JESUS once said: "If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true;" and again, "If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not."

Jesus knew that God—Life, Truth, and Love—is all powerful, and his understanding of this wonderful truth destroyed the false beliefs of sin, sickness, and death. His demonstrations bore witness to the fact that he understood the allness of God and the nothingness of evil; and demonstration must also be our witness that the Christ-spirit abides in our consciousness. When we heal sickness and sin, we have definite proof that we are understanding in some degree the allness of God, good. Jesus knew that the healing witnessed by the messengers sent by John the Baptist to inquire, "Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?" would be proof to John the Baptist that he was the Way-shower and demonstrator of the Christ, Truth; and Mrs. Eddy says (Manual, p. 92), "Healing the sick and the sinner with Truth demonstrates what we affirm of Christian Science, and nothing can substitute this demonstration."

But, one may say, I am not a practitioner of Christian Science, and no one comes to me for healing. The healing work, however, begins in each one's own thinking. As we constantly try to realize God's allness, and steadfastly meet and silence the suggestions of sickness, hate, anger, and fear that seem to come to us, we are lifted into a higher consciousness of existence and begin to see spiritual creation in all its perfection and beauty. To this uplifted consciousness will come those in need of healing.
