What has Christian Science done for me? Besides healing various physical ailments, including headaches, influenza, appendicitis, and a supposed tubercular tendency, it has also been the means of healing to a great extent undesirable traits of character, such as timidity, sensitiveness, resentment, pride, variable temperament, and self-will.

I am very grateful for the help, encouragement, and enlightenment given by loving Christian Science practitioners and the periodicals. I am also grateful that eventually it was proved possible to stand on my own feet, or, in other words, to learn self-help, which is naturally requisite before we can be of real aid to others—our ultimate hope. In plucking out the beam from my own eye, it was found necessary, one by one, to cast out beliefs absorbed all too easily in the pursuit of modern educational ideals. That the way seemed long and hard is only the more positive proof that God is not willing that one of His little ones should perish, but that we should all know Him, from the least unto the greatest, and that He is able to lead us all to repentance.

These words of St. Paul, "Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth," are no longer true of me, since striving to the utmost to overcome the claims of evil by complete forgiveness of those who trespass against me. My motives being conformed more nearly to the impartial law of Love, make my joy all the greater that Mrs. Eddy was enabled to discern the true meaning of the Scriptures, long lost but given again by her to the world, making it possible in this age to share in the blessings that Jesus promised to those who believed.
