Full Salvation

MRS. EDDY has written in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 494): "Is it not a species of infidelity to believe that so great a work as the Messiah's was done for himself or for God, who needed no help from Jesus' example to preserve the eternal harmony? But mortals did need this help, and Jesus pointed the way for them."

Suffering, sinning humanity was to a great extent unaware of the magnitude and completeness of the mission of our Lord until the discovery of Christian Science by Mrs. Eddy. Now we find, as we study the Bible in connection with her writings, that we understand as never before what the stupendous life-work of our great Master was, namely, to bring to suffering, sinning humanity salvation not only from sin, but also from sickness, disease, fear, want, and woe—yes, even from death itself. Oh, wondrous Truth, full salvation through the spiritual understanding of God as revealed through Christian Science! Christ's way has been reopened through divine Science to the full understanding of what this salvation means. The mists of mortal belief had almost hidden it from mankind; but as we accept in all their plenitude the teachings of Christian Science, we find hope budding into promise as small demonstrations of the healing power of the Christ, Truth, are made, proving that with a larger understanding of this Science of Christ larger demonstrations will follow.

In the first chapter of Genesis we read: "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." We also read, in the first verse of the second chapter, "Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them." The spiritual, real creation of God is complete. Therefore the spiritual, real selfhood of each one of us is, and always will be, the image and likeness of our Father-Mother God. Nothing can ever rob us of our immortal status, which will be ours throughout eternity. And as we grasp the meaning of this great scientific truth, even in part, it gives us confidence in God, who is the author of our being; it stabilizes our faith and trust in Him as the absolute and only One, the deliverer from the myriad forms of false belief that may assail us as sin, disease, fear, sickness, want, or woe. Our great Master, Christ Jesus, came to prove that Life's eternal harmony has never been harmed, and never can be interfered with even by the most subtle claims of so-called mortal mind. God's spiritual, perfect creation will remain throughout all eternity, intact and unsullied by even the slightest tinge of discord; so that man, the spiritual real man of God's creating in His own image and likeness, is perfect, and will remain perfect throughout all eternity, however much the material so-called senses may argue to the contrary.
