The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

CLEVELAND, OHIO (First Church).

Lecturer: Charles I. Ohrenstein; introduced by Howard E. Herron, who said:—

More than nineteen hundred years ago Christ Jesus gave mankind a practical and demonstrable religion, which was fundamentally a religion of Love. His were the glad tidings which healed the sick, reformed the sinner, and even raised the dead. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science and author of its textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," has written (p. 55): "The promises will be fulfilled. The time for the reappearing of the divine healing is throughout all time." To-day Christian Science comes with its healing and instructive message, lifting men on to a higher plane of thought and activity, toward the ultimate attainment of their true spiritual relationship to God. My attention was turned toward Christian Science through the healing of one whose condition was considered almost hopeless. Through the right application of the truth, health was restored. This healing was the beginning of my desire to learn more about God as taught in Christian Science, and of the fulfillment of the gracious promise of the Master, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
