There have been many quick healings in our family, and some have been slow healings; but Christian Science has never failed us. When the healings have been slow, I have found that I have learned to be more patient.

Some months ago I was attacked with what I believed to be influenza. I worked as we are taught in Christian Science, and was able to be about each day and do all my duties; but still I did not feel well. This condition started on a Tuesday; on Friday I felt very ill, my throat being the chief trouble. When I went to bed at night I was rather alarmed, and thought I had better ask for help from a practitioner; but the thought also came that I really ought to be able to do my own work without giving a busy practitioner any more to do; so I again got the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and tried to read, but my inclination was to lie down and go to sleep. This I knew would bring no good, and decided to read on. These thoughts came: Jesus said, "The truth shall make you free," and Christian Science is the truth; and every word I read in the textbook does heal. I then started to read again; and I had read only about two lines when I felt suddenly free and well, and so full of joy I wanted to get up and sing: the healing was complete.

I could tell of many other healings, but I should like to give just one more experience. I was sitting in church one Sunday evening; the Lesson-Sermon had just commenced, and I was feeling quite happy, when suddenly I was seized with terror about our children; there seemed to be something happening to them. My first impulse was to go out of church and get home quickly; then the angel-thoughts which are ever with us prompted me: I am an hour's journey from the children, but the Father-Mother God, who is omnipresent and omnipotent, is where my children are at this moment, and they, being in His power and presence, cannot be harmed, and it is my duty as a church member not to allow a sense of disturbance to enter church, but to give my whole attention to the Lesson-Sermon. The fear all went, and the incident was forgotten until I arrived home later in the evening, when my maid said, "We had quite a fright this evening." She then told me that our little boy had taken a purse with some farthings into bed and had put one of the coins in his mouth. It lodged in his throat and would not move up or down; but suddenly he became slightly sick, and the farthing flew out of his mouth. This happened at about half past seven. The incident must have been forgotten immediately, as our little boy never mentioned it.
