HE read the lesson through,
And pondered every phrase;
Then went about his work,
His thoughts all filled with praise—

Praise and deep gratitude
For work and friends and life.
And when temptation came,
He conquered without strife.

And so it is that we
Learn through the lesson's touch,
That gratitude is prayer—
And prayer availeth much.
