With a grateful heart I wish to testify to a healing which I experienced in Easter week, 1923. I had caught a severe cold. I thought I had overcome this error quickly by my understanding of Christian Science. It proved, however, that my work had not been thorough; for two days later the serious symptoms of inflammation of the lungs were manifest. My wife and I took up the work again. Thoughts of doubt and fear were overcome by recalling the blessings which we had so often received through divine Love.

At that time we were living in a place where there was neither a Christian Science Society nor a Christian Science practitioner. As my nearest relatives were opposed to Christian Science, we were very desirous of demonstrating a quick healing. But as we were afraid our understanding might not suffice to bring about a good result, my wife sent a telegram to a practitioner who lived at some distance, asking for help, which was given at once. A night in which I suffered intensely followed, and several times I felt myself at the end of my strength. The voice of my wife, who continually declared the truth about God and man, seemed to come from a great distance. Towards morning I felt a little better. At our request by telephone, the practitioner made the journey to us to give me treatment. When she departed two hours later I felt as if I had been awakened to a new life. I was able to get up the very same evening, and three days later I was able to take up my work again in my business.

We are very happy to have found through Christian Science the healing, ever present Christ; and we are grateful to divine Love, revealed anew to mankind through Mrs. Eddy's life-work, which shows us the way to perfect and permanent harmony. We give heartfelt thanks to the kind practitioner, who, by helping so quickly, gave us an example of unselfish self-sacrifice.
