How
variously have men viewed the Supreme Being! If one reads the hymns that used to be sung, he is impressed with the belief the authors must have had that the divine activities were largely occupied with the punishment of sinners.
The
beginner in Christian Science is often tempted to employ his new-found freedom, and the power gained thereby, to engage in an offensive warfare against error abroad—that is to say, error which appears to him to result from the wrong thinking of others.
How
much of sorrow and distress would be eliminated from the world's burden of care to-day if Peter's counsel were heeded, "Be ye holy in all manner of conversation"! Then all who profess to be followers of the Christ should, indeed, keep their "conversation.
Charles E. Heitman, Committee on Publication for the State of New York,
While the minister did not specifically name Christian Science in his sermon, as reported in your recent issue, nevertheless, certain of your readers have accepted his references to divine Mind, the unreality of matter, the purchase of a book, and the payment of fees in connection with spiritual healing as being indirect criticisms of the teachings and practice of the Christian Science religion.
Miss Emily J. Jones, Committee on Publication for the State of North Carolina,
In attacking the teachings of Christian Science, an evengelist in a meeting at the Presbyterian Church in your city, a few weeks ago, as reported in the Observer, made some very incorrect statements, which I wish to correct.

In a recent issue of your paper there appeared an account of a sermon on "Faith Healing," wherein are made certain statements which indicate that the lecturer is not at all familiar with the teachings of Christian Science.

It is with a heart filled with gratitude that I bear witness to the healing power of God as manifested to me through the study and application of Christian Science.
About twelve years ago I bought a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and read it through three times; but I could not seem to get any understanding from the book, so I laid it aside.
All my life I had wanted to be converted and saved like other people, but never seemed to get what I was looking for! I was told I was looking too high; but through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I am being led into the light, and have the satisfaction of knowing my prayers are being answered by a better understanding of what God is, and of man in His image and likeness.
After reading and studying Christian Science for seven years, I can truthfully and gratefully say that the application of the Christ, Truth, as taught in the Bible and in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, does heal.
