About twelve years ago I bought a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and read it through three times; but I could not seem to get any understanding from the book, so I laid it aside. Six years later, plans were being made to operate on me for a goiter. The doctors told me that I must have this operation, as it was the only thing that would relieve the trouble. Just at this time, while skating on the ice, I met with an accident causing a compound fracture to my leg. I was taken to a hospital, and the leg was put in a cast. The suffering was almost unbearable. I asked my husband to bring my copy of Science and Health to me. A dear friend who was a Christian Scientist called at the hospital to see me, and found me reading the textbook. He talked with me, and I asked him if he would help me to gain an understanding of the truth contained in it. He said he would gladly do so. I continued reading, and my progress in understanding the book steadily increased. It was found necessary to put a second cast on my leg, and through the loving help of my friend, the Scientist, I was able to have this done without an anæsthetic; and I experienced no pain. The doctors had decided to operate and remove the goiter, and made ready to do so, but I decided to return home and depend entirely upon the healing power of Christian Science. I can truthfully say that I was entirely healed, and there is no evidence of my ever having had such a growth.

This healing was a wonderful thing to me, and my heart goes out in love and gratitude to God, to Mrs. Eddy, and to the friend who so patiently and lovingly helped me through my hospital experience.
