The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Paris, France (Second Church).

Lecturer: William Duncan Kilpatrick; introduced by Mrs. Evelyn A. Armand-Delille, who said:—

When I was young I was constantly in the hands of a doctor, and after I had been studying Christian Science for some time I met him again. He looked at me and said: "Will you tell me the secret of the wonderful change which has come over you? Is it peace of mind?" He knew I was interested in Christian Science; he also knew that it had accomplished something which drugs and medicines had failed to do, namely, the destruction of fear. The world needs something higher than human will upon which to rely; and nothing less than the understanding of God's omnipotent power can heal and save man. Mary Baker Eddy, Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, says in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 445), "Christian Science silences human will, quiets fear with Truth and Love, and illustrates the unlabored motion of the divine energy in healing the sick;" and again, on page 144, she writes, "Truth, and not corporeal will, is the divine power which says to disease, 'Peace, be still.'"
