Signs of the Times

[Rev. Claud Snushall, as quoted in the Cambridgeshire Times, March, England]

The great need of the day was for real men—men who, wherever they found themselves, at work or at play, would reflect in their lives the ideals of Christianity, and would be sincere, honest, true, pure, and faithful. Employers were asking for such men, and much of the material work of the world was being held up for lack of them. But the need was even greater in spiritual work. Were men beginning to realize that the gospel of materialism was empty and barren? If they looked for spiritual truths they would find in the Christian ideals something infinitely more satisfying to the needs of the soul than had been found in any other religion. There was the hope of immortality, and the example given in Christ's life to become more like unto God. Let every man look closely into the life of Christ and shape his own life according to that image, so that he might go forth anywhere and everywhere and reflect to the world the lightness and the brightness of Jesus Christ himself.
