Working to Glorify God

"Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." In all history perhaps no statement has given to the world more of peace and hope and comfort than this of Christ Jesus. It has brought cheer and solace to the sin-sick, the weary, the prisoner in bonds to material thralldom, ever since as an inspired utterance it fell from the lips of the master Metaphysician as he went about the hills of Judea and the valleys of Galilee, teaching the gospel of freedom to the weary and heavy-laden, and demonstrating his doctrine by healing the sick and the sinner and raising the dead.

What is this proclamation of liberty that Jesus so fearlessly uttered and so faultlessly proved? Does he not here declare that the understanding of God and His unchangeable law of infinite perfection renders men immune from discord and inharmony of every name and nature? And what is the condition on which they are to claim this immunity? He plainly states it in words preceding those quoted: "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed."

The New Testament Scriptures are replete with Jesus' proofs of this understanding. In the simplest language, and in indisputable demonstration of his knowledge of God as infinite, omnipresent good, he fed the multitude, healed the sick, freed the sinner, raised the dead, in the face of a doubting, scoffing, and unbelieving world. Did this opposing attitude of ignorant mortal so-called mind discourage or deter him? Not at all. He never hesitated or faltered, but went fearlessly on, blessing all with whom he came in contact, and even expressing compassion for those who expressed to him the bitterest hatred and personal violence.
