During a recent hurricane my husband and I felt that we had most unusual proofs of God's protection, which we were able to demonstrate through our understanding of the teachings of Christian Science.

Our home is on the immediate bay front, and during the night when the wind was so violent we declared many times the allness of God. The house shook and rocked, but the words of the hymn, "How firm a foundation," kept coming to me to sustain and strengthen. When daylight made it possible for us to see, we discovered that the large trees in our yard were all down, but not one had fallen upon our house.

About seven o'clock, when the lull came which we thought was the end of the storm, my husband went out to chop a pathway from the house, when suddenly I saw the bay leap over the sea wall. For a short time there was a sense of intense fear; but I called my husband, and together we declared audibly the truth about God and His creation, as we know it from the Scriptures and Mrs. Eddy's works, while the angry waters advanced toward our house, bringing across our lawn a great amount of wreckage and debris from the night's storm.
