Signs of the Times

[From an editorial in the Star, Indianapolis, Indiana]

Every man should have his tent of meeting—his place for getting alone with God. The most important thing in life, whatever the enterprise that lies before us, is the realization that God will go with us. Be it moving to a new home, engaging in a business, traveling, establishing new social or domestic relationships—whatever it may be, our heart should say, "If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence." It is not safe to go anywhere without assurance that God goes with us, and that our high privilege of comradeship will not be interrupted. Nor is there anywhere that duty requires us to go without God. The secret of a life of real happiness and the assurance of rest, of satisfied rest, at the end of the journey, lies in making certain that God companions on every step of the road. The man who has his tent of meeting to which he makes daily resort in sincere purpose to meet God, is not likely to wander far from His way.
