About six years ago, when Christian Science was presented to me, I was in a very desperate mental state, being exceedingly nervous and depressed. Practically all my life I had suffered from discord of some kind, and my attempts to obtain relief through material means had utterly failed. My long experience with materia medica, chiropractic treatments, diets, and exercise nothing. However, when I accepted the invitation to try Christian Science and turned directly to God, I was healed of constipation in one treatment with the help of a loving practitioner. This healing brought to me a most helpful sense of peace and assurance, and convinced me of divine Love's ever-availability and willingness to deliver us from all evil. This experience also presented to me the unreliability of material remedies, and awakened me to the fact that I had been worshiping materiality, thereby disobeying the First Commandment.

I have since been healed of many discordant conditions—mental, moral, and physical; and it has been possible through the understanding which divine Love has supplied to lay aside glasses that I had worn continuously for fifteen years. Hatred, envy, malice, resentment, jealousy, superstition, and the like, have in large measure been eliminated, and it is most satisfying to know that these are no part of God's nature. As man is the reflection of God, we need not accept them, because we are possessed of the authority to reject them as illegitimate.

The textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, is unquestionably a "key" to the Bible. It has been most helpful in revealing to my consciousness the true concepts of God, man, the universe, and their perfect, indestructible relationship. The study of the Bible and the writings of our beloved Leader has brought to me a better outlook upon life. I have been made happier, and have received a greater sense of freedom, through the many assurances presented therein. Before Christian Science came into my thought the Bible was a closed book to me, and life was a most uncertain experience; but the searchlight of Truth shining through this book has dispelled the mist of materiality to a very large degree, and has resulted in the manifestation of peace, joy, contentment, faith, hope, and the like.
