When Christian Science was presented to me I was in a state of discouragement. I had just spent a year in bed, five months of this period in a hospital, for a heart trouble called Basedow's disease. After I had read a copy of Le Héraut, which a friend had lent me, I procured the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and asked for help from a practitioner. At the end of two weeks I could go freely wherever I desired, and resumed my housekeeping. It was for me an awakening; for I wanted to know God as Christian Science demonstrates Him to be,—the tender Father, the God of love, always ready to respond to our call when we turn from matter to Spirit.

While searching for and perceiving the light where before there had seemed only darkness, I followed a way quite the opposite to that previously taken, abandoning each day more of the belief in sickness and fear, to make room for thoughts of health, happiness, and the joy of living. It would be very difficult for me to describe all the demonstrations I have had through the application of the truth. However, I shall cite a few. Besides my first healing, digestive difficulties and trouble with my teeth and ears were healed very quickly. At the birth of my last daughter all took place in perfect harmony, to the great astonishment of the medical attendant, who had predicted the need of surgery. A short time afterwards the baby was healed of enteritis through the declaration of God's omnipresence and omnipotence. My eldest daughter was healed of measles in two days, and later of a bronchial trouble, so diagnosed by the academic medical society. Since she has received and understood the teaching of the Christian Science Sunday School, several faults of character have also yielded to the truth.

Through several experiences I have had I know that God sends to His children, in all places and under all circumstances, what is necessary for them; that there is in reality no want, no lack of work, but that good abounds, ready to flow into our lives when we leave the field free to God.
