Loving gratitude to God for many blessings received...
Loving gratitude to God for many blessings received through the study of Christian Science impels me to give this testimony. A little over two years ago an automobile in which I was riding collided with a train. Several doctors came to the scene of the accident, and all said there was no possible hope that I could live, as my skull was fractured, my lower jaw broken in three places, and my chest and one eye were badly injured, besides internal injuries. I regained consciousness immediately, and asked for a Christian Science practitioner. I had no fear whatever, although the thought of death was stamped on the faces of those standing near. I had been a student of Christian Science for several years, and had had so many healings that I could not doubt that God would sustain me in this trying hour. Until word reached the practitioner I fought the error alone with God, as there was, to my knowledge, no one near who was even in sympathy with Christian Science.
I was taken to a hospital, and on the following day my jaw was set by a physician. That was the only medical aid rendered. After twelve days I was able to be taken home. There was still much work to be done, however. I secured a Christian Science nurse. She and the faithful practitioner stood like brave sentinels at their post of duty, day and night, for a month longer. The way was very dark, and it seemed sometimes as if the battle would be lost; but we pressed on through our faith in God. Within four months I went back to my work healed. The demonstration was complete. Besides this healing I have had numerous others; but the spiritual understanding gained means far more to me even than the physical healings.
I am so thankful that Christ Jesus, the great Way-shower, came and mapped out the way of salvation, and that we have in the Bible a record of his glorious works. I am also deeply grateful that our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, has explained them in her wonderful writings, so that all may understand.
