The love and gratitude which I feel for Christian Science...

The love and gratitude which I feel for Christian Science prompt me to write this testimony, with the hope that it may lead some one else to the truth, and to the freedom and happiness which the knowledge of this beautiful truth has brought me.

Christian Science found me in the darkest hour I have ever known, and through its transforming power lifted me into the light. When all hope had fled, and when it seemed as if death would be preferable to the mental suffering which I had endured for so long, I learned that "man's extremity is God's opportunity."

When nineteen years of age, while attending a music school, I suddenly began to see an object before my left eye which closely resembled a musical note. The eye also caused me a great deal of pain and annoyance. Thinking that the trouble was due to eyestrain or overwork, I consulted an oculist, but he could not locate the cause of the disorder. During the next eight years I visited one oculist after another in the hope that some one would be able to diagnose the case and find a remedy; but, although each one prescribed a different treatment, all were baffled by the seemingly mysterious trouble and could do nothing to relieve it.
