The Lectures

Edinburgh, Scotland (First Church).

Lecturer: Paul Stark Seeley. Introducer: Miss C. Lilias Ramsay.

Christian Science has appeared to this age, bringing the scientific knowledge of God; that is, knowledge that can be proved to be true. This is the fuller revelation of Christianity which our Lord promised the Father would send in his name. This scientific truth, or true Science, revealing the absolute nature of God, the infinite good "with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning," appeals alike to all, satisfying the highest aspirations of men and women, and establishing their deepest convictions, while it supplies the simplest needs of the little child. It is indeed, as Mrs. Eddy says on page 13 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "the open fount which cries, 'Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters.'" This appeal has already been responded to by thousands who have been rescued from suffering and sorrow and sin. I myself have been freed from various physical ills, and from many mental and moral errors. I have gained a positive assurance of immortality, and have been supported and comforted in the difficulties and trials of this life. When the whole world accepts the loving invitation, as it must eventually do, the words of the prophet Jeremiah will be fulfilled: "They shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them saith the Lord."
