When a very young girl I sustained internal injuries from a fall. This was followed by an operation, from which, however, no benefit was received; but, instead, such conditions as nervousness, constant headaches, and so forth, grew worse.

It seemed as if I had exhausted all hope of happiness when the wonderful truth of being, as revealed in Christian Science, dawned on my darkened consciousness. I had been looking for relief from physical suffering through material means. Although I longed to lead an active and useful life, I seemed to be handicapped by lack of strength and endurance, reaction and suffering always following any unusual exertion. When, however, I began to be transformed by the renewing of the mind, through gaining some practical understanding of the Bible by studying it in connection with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I found I could literally "run, and not be weary, ... walk, and not faint."

My complete physical healing, however, did not come until I began to work in Science for another. Then my whole time was taken up in trying to liberate one near and dear to me. She was beyond all human aid, in mental darkness, and pronounced incurable by the physicians, who had done all they could to restore her. With the thought from Science and Health (p. 385), "Whatever it is your duty to do, you can do without harm to yourself," ever with me, I endured what I never thought possible before, and not only was I healed myself, but I had the joy of seeing the loved one restored both mentally and physically.
