[Written for the Sentinel]

"There is lifting up"

Oh, weary heart! Art thou cast down?
Be brave, for "there is lifting up."
Art thou forsaken, all alone?
Dost drink the skeptic's bitter cup?

"Be still, and know that I am God."
Thou canst not well forsaken be,
Since God is Love, and He hath said
That He will ever walk with thee.

In darkness hear His mighty Word:
"Let there be light: and there was light."
The deaf, the dumb, the lame, the blind
May hear and speak, have feet and sight.

No longer doubt His promises.
To-day rejoicing thousands prove
That right desire their need supplies
Through comprehended Truth and Love.
