The Lectures
Paterson, New Jersey (First Church).
Lecturer: Charles I. Ohrenstein. Introducer: Ide G. Sargeant.
I was drawn to a study of Christian Science by the remarkable healing of a member of my family. Until that time I had looked upon Christian Science as a new ism. My studies led me to see that I was entirely wrong in my concept of Christian Science. Christian Science sends us back to a study of the divine truth in the Bible, with the same freedom from prejudice and tradition that we approach the study of scientific facts in the material world. In Christian Science, Christ Jesus is no longer regarded as an impractical dreamer, scorned of men, but as the Way-shower to divine Love and Truth, by which men may see the nothingness of error and receive health and happiness. For long men have denied the Christ and the laws of God. And to-day even, with a world overflowing with marvelous inventions and wealth beyond computation, thousands are dying of starvation while men and nations are victims of false belief. The teachings of Christian Science make clear the way to divine Truth and Love. The understanding of Christian Science will mean the healing of individuals and nations physically and mentally.
