The teachings of Christian Science are based entirely upon the Bible. Mrs. Eddy, the author of the Christian Science textbook; "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," was herself instantaneously healed of the effects of an accident by reading the Bible, although her condition had been pronounced incurable by her physician. Mrs. Eddy had always been a lover of the Bible, but after her healing she devoted several years entirely to the study of the Scriptures to find out how she had been healed, and several more years to thoroughly testing and demonstrating her system before giving it to the world. On page 269 of the textbook referred to above she tells us: "The testimony of the material senses is neither absolute nor divine. I therefore plant myself unreservedly on the teachings of Jesus, of his apostles, of the prophets, and on the testimony of the Science of Mind. Other foundations there are none."
