[Original testimony in German]
In December, 1904, I first saw some Christian Science...
In December, 1904, I first saw some Christian Science literature. Up to that time I had heard nothing of this splendid movement, and for a while its teachings seemed incomprehensible to me. Gradually, however, my interest grew, and I studied more and more closely the instructive articles appearing in Der Herold der Christian Science. To the testimonies of healing I paid little attention. Although I had suffered from severe indigestion since my birth, I considered myself healthy. I did not know any better. When in October, 1905, a Christian Science practitioner took up her residence in Frankfurt, I learned differently, and had her give me treatment. After three weeks, as the healing had not taken place, I became fearful. Through loving scientific explanations concerning beautiful passages in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, these thoughts of fear were soon dispelled. In six or seven weeks the healing took place.
Thankful as I am for my physical healing, the spiritual exaltation which Christian Science has brought me is the "pearl of great price." I am learning what it is to live, whereas before I merely existed. I thank God for Christian Science and for the inspiration of our noble Leader, Mrs. Eddy. Through her indefatigable, selfless study she was enabled to give us the key to the Bible in her inspired textbook.
