It is the desire and prayer of all Christian Scientists, as humble students of the Bible, to know God better and obey Him more fully. Christ Jesus taught sole reliance on God in his healing and saving ministry; and, thanks to Mrs. Eddy and her rediscovery of Christ's Christianity Christian Scientists are proving God to be an ever present help in all times of need. In the language of the epistle of James, Christian Scientists would say to those questioning their methods, "Shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works." Jesus taught that the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of God, is within, and Christian Scientists are able, in some measure, to prove this true. In her Message to The Mother Church, in Boston, for 1902 (p. 8) Mrs. Eddy has stated: "Spiritual love makes man conscious that God is his Father, and the consciousness of God as Love gives man power with untold furtherance. Then God becomes to him the All-presence—quenching sin; the All-power—giving life, health, holiness; the All-science—all law and gospel." This statement by the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science briefly but adequately defines the God we love and worship.
