[Written for the Sentinel]

A Song of Praise

To Thee, great Author of the Book of Life,
I tune my lays.
To Thee, that knowest naught of hate or strife,
I give my praise.

In Thee, true Comforter, Companion, Guide,
I safely rest.
In Thee secure and peaceful I abide;
I am Thy guest.

Not only do my lips delight in praise
Of Thee to sing;
I would acknowledge Thee in all my ways—
In everything.
