I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me and for my family. When I first heard of Christian Science in 1908, I was suffering from stomach and kidney trouble of four years' standing. During that time I had had the best of medical attention obtainable, and also took a trip to Germany, with the thought of seeing my relatives once more before leaving this world. When my sister over there saw my condition she went with me to see one of the best specialists in the city, who examined me. He shook his head, and advised me to return to America as soon as possible and to place myself under the care of a good physician, as it was a serious case.

I had given up all hope of ever being well again, until one day my attention was called to a sign in a window announcing a free lecture on Christian Science. I decided to go and find out what it was. I shall never forget the joy I experienced when the lecturer said that all manner of diseases had been healed through the earnest study of the Bible, and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. After the lecture I was given a Christian Science Sentinel. I went right home and read it from beginning to end. When I saw the list of Mrs. Eddy's books on the back page, I decided to buy one of each to find out if there was anything in Christian Science which was not in full accord with the Bible; if there was, I would not have anything to do with it. The next day I went to the Christian Science Reading Room with a complete list of the books mentioned in the Sentinel, and purchased all of them; and the following day my brother and I visited a practitioner. Through her loving help I soon was well; and the healing has been permanent. Two years later I married; and soon my wife became interested in Christian Science. She is now an active worker in the field.

We have had many beautiful demonstrations. When a son was born, to mortal sense there was no help for him; but thanks to God, and to the practitioner who took such a firm stand for Truth, the difficulty was overcome, and he is now a strong, healthy boy. Christian Science has healed me of the smoking habit and of an inordinate love of money. Those things that once seemed to be pleasurable do not give me any pleasure now. Christian Science means everything to me.
