[Written for the Sentinel]

"Rejoice in the Lord alway"

In the morning, radiant morning,
When Truth's sunlight shines on me,
Bright with splendor, warm and tender,
Lord, I will rejoice in Thee.

In the noontide, glist'ning noontide,
Singing in life's busy mart;
Every duty's clothed with beauty,
While rejoicing is my heart.

In the evening, starlit evening,
When Thy peace my heart doth fill;
Love enfolding, Truth upfolding,
I'm in Thee rejoicing still.

In the nighttime, darksome nighttime,
Though the thunders drown Thy voice,
Bravely waiting their abating,
Lord, in Thee I will rejoice.

For the heart that thus rejoiceth,
Ever dwelleth in Thy day;
Night or morning, dark or dawning,
Lord, I will rejoice alway.
