In the summer of 1908, I turned to Christian Science to learn therefrom the art of living—of living harmoniously. Short talks on character building by the director of the private school I was attending inspired me to learn this, the greatest of all arts. Through this desire I was led, through my own choosing, to join the Christian Science Sunday School; and for the next four years eagerly drank in the beautiful, practical teaching given there. Through the understanding gained in the Sunday school, and with the help of a Christian Science practitioner, I was enabled, by earning the tuition necessary, to finish my course in school, instead of yielding to the suggestion of financial reverses in the family, which threatened to deprive me of my education.

During the fourteen years I have been studying, I have been blessed beyond measure. Christian Science has been proved to me to be preeminently preventive, for I have had few physical difficulties to overcome during this time. However, when I have needed healing, Christian Science has been all-sufficient. I am truly grateful to God for the revelation of His law to this age through the writings of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and for the infinite blessings poured forth to humanity through The Mother Church and its "wide channels" (Manual, p. 45).
