The Lectures

Los Angeles, Calif . (Third Church).—The following introductory remarks were made by Mrs. Rachel Goss Deyo at a Christian Science lecture by Mrs. Blanche K. Corby:—

I remember only one occasion when I was attended by a physician, because when I was but three years old my mother had a very wonderful healing in Christian Science. As a consequence, my first religious training was in a Christian Science Sunday School; and for this I am grateful, for within me was founded a trust in God which has always remained in my thought. Later, other religious influences were brought to bear upon me, and continued until I was nearly grown to womanhood, when a deep sorrow left me strangely impressed with my lack of the understanding of things. At this point a relative briefly explained Christian Science to me, and read a little from the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Then I did what the Bible admonished us to do. I took the little book, and did "eat it up;" and it was "sweet" because I found the living truth that comforted me.
