The first time I ever really heard Christian Science presented was at a lecture given in our home town. Some friends considered this lecture of such importance as to come a distance of over two hundred miles to hear it. I thought, Surely there must be something in it, so I will go and see for myself; and I did. Afterwards I could not recall the lecturer's name, nor anything he had said; but his lecture had made a lasting impression with its simplicity and spirituality.

Six months later our little girl was taken ill with something like scarlet fever. We called our family physician, who did what he could for her. She improved in some ways, but the illness left her with an ear trouble which he could not cure, and which finally resulted in a broken eardrum. The child had no appetite, and her bowels and kidneys failed to act without material aid; so the physician advised us to take her away, as the change might do her good. While on this visit, we were caught in a cold rainstorm, which aggravated her condition. Being quite a distance from a physician, I thought the next best thing to do would be to try Christian Science. I asked for treatment late one evening, and the child slept all that night without waking once. The next morning she was healed, every discordant condition having vanished. At the end of two weeks I took her home, and commenced the study of Christian Science, for I saw that it healed. Since then we have seen ptomaine poisoning, measles, sick headaches, insomnia, appendicitis, severe burns, colds, coughs, croup, and many other discordant conditions in our family healed through the application of the truth as taught in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

Better than all physical healings, however, is the knowledge of a God of love, as revealed in Mrs. Eddy's writings.
