In the issue of your paper of January 14 a pastor comments upon the treatment of disease by Christian Science. His explanation of the healing system is incorrect in at least one important particular. The account avers that Christian Science is of no value in the treatment of organic diseases. Christian Science heals organic diseases as readily as it does functional or nervous diseases. Jesus said in his immortal Sermon on the Mount, "By their fruits ye shall know them." Throughout his entire ministry and teaching, he never failed to emphasize healing as well as preaching. After a careful study of the life and works of Jesus in his ministry to humanity, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, presented to the world the positive rule, based upon the works and teachings of Christ Jesus, wherein the fruits of religion may be made manifest, as indicated by him. There are millions of living witnesses to-day who have participated in this healing panacea, many of whom have been for years suffering from organic disorders. To say that nervous troubles can be healed by God's goodness, but that organic troubles cannot, is equivalent to saying that God has power to help some, but not others; it is to say that God is not omnipotent; that He possesses a limited amount of power. In other words, there are certain conditions which God, the almighty, omnipotent creator, has no ability to control! A statement of this nature is paradoxical and inconsistent with Bible teachings.
