Companionship

What would I ask of Thee in prayer that ceases not,
O Love divine? One thing is first,—companionship
With Thee; a knowledge never questioned—Thou art near.
And so at close of day, when we together talk,
To find in retrospect that Thy will's been mine own;
That Thou hast ever led the way; and when a call
From one who strayed from right has come, it was not I
They heard in answer: Thine own voice has spoken clear!
The falt'ring one has turned to Thee, and found Thee All.
So let me go my journey, hand in hand with Thee.
