A Calgary physician, in an article in the Herald, proposing a plan for physical and medical education, made reference to Christian Science which calls for comment.

After referring to drugless healers, including the Christian Scientist, the writer goes on to say, "Without exception all these cults of pseudo sciences have as their starting point certain established facts which have been long recognized by students of medicine." It is of interest to note what the starting point of Christian Science is. Mrs. Eddy presents it very clearly when she writes on page 275 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "The starting-point of divine Science is that God, Spirit, is All-in-all, and that there is no other might nor Mind,—that God is Love, and therefore He is divine Principle." Let us hope it is true, as the writer of the article says, that students of medicine have long recognized the starting point of Christian Science! Christian Scientists sincerely hope that our medical brethren may gain a better understanding of it, and give practical evidence of their understanding. Then they will see that Christian Science is true Science, in the highest and best sense of the term.

The health of the people is an important subject; and especially important is it that the rising generation should be protected. Careful instruction of the young in the requirements of the moral law is of first importance, as all recognize who have the welfare of the young at heart. Conscientious parents can safely be entrusted with the duty of imparting to their children such further information as they require for their well-being. It is important also to keep out of the impressionable minds of the children the mental pictures of disease. This is a good preventive. The mental factor is the most important.
