[Written for the Sentinel]

Jubilation

Rejoice , ye weary hearts, and sing!
The priceless pearl is found,—
The true perception of the Christ,—
And evil's chains unbound.
A faith unshaken by distress
Perceived the blessed light;
And laws of God, for ages hid,
Were then unveiled to sight.

Within this age, a woman's thought
Was pure enough to see
The omnipresent power of God
And evil's sophistry,
And to proclaim that not in dust,
Nor springing from the ground,
But in the likeness of his God,
The perfect man is found.

No more shall sin and sorrow rule
The world with ruthless hand,
Nor doubtful creeds and theories
Obedience command;
Our guide henceforth must be the truth,
The truth that maketh free;
The urge of love within our hearts
Must shape our ministry.

As comes the rain to parched earth
To fill the ripening grain,
So comes this priceless pearl of Truth
To heal our sin and pain;
Then joy, ye weary hearts, and sing!
The priceless pearl is found,—
The true perception of the Christ,—
And evil's chains unbound.
