The Lectures
Chicago, Illinois (Twelfth Church).—Introducing Dr. John M. Tutt, a Christian Science lecturer, to his audience, Mrs. Alice B. McWatters said in part:—
Words fail to express my gratitude for the many blessings I have received through Christian Science during the past twenty years. Whereas I was sick and miserable and without much hope in the world, I now am well and happy; and God has been my only physician. This wonderful discovery—Christian Science—is the rediscovery of the healing power of the Christ, Truth, as revealed to the world by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and set forth in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which is truly a golden key, unlocking the hidden truths of the Bible, healing the sick and the sinner, and ever radiating Truth, Life, and Love.
Jesus said, "This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." Our false concepts of God have darkened the ages, making it difficult to know Him aright. Many of us were taught to believe that God is a mighty king sitting on a throne high in the heavens, a God of wrath to be feared. Now, God has not changed, but our concepts of Him have changed. How splendid it is that we learn through Christian Science that God is divine Love, our Father-Mother, ever tender, merciful, and compassionate; that He is ever present; that He is not afar off; for, as says Paul, "In him we live, and move, and have our being."
