My Prayer

To know Thee, God, my earnest prayer to-day;
To know Thy presence and Thy power alway,
Thy loving guidance, care, protection, too.
Then clouds disperse; the rays of Truth pierce through.

To love Thee, God, my earnest prayer to-day;
To heed Thy precepts, and in love obey—
By thought, and word, and deed bear witness true
That love for God means love for man anew.

To serve Thee, God, my earnest prayer to-day;
To do the work Thou givest—now, alway!
Unselfed the effort; sure the recompense
Of happy freedom from the claims of sense.

"Desire is prayer;" "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 1), by Mary Baker Eddy. thus is the truth expressed.
A touch divine exalts, and I am blest;
For knowing, loving, serving—all are one.
My prayer is answered, and Thy will is done.
