About eleven years ago we were home in England from India for the summer months. Before we returned to India I awoke one morning with a sharp sting on my face. I did not see what had stung me. Wasps were plentiful that summer, so it may have been a wasp's sting; however, I thought very little of it, and did nothing for it. I knew very little then about Christian Science, but had grasped one point, and that was that Christian Scientists use no material means of relief from inharmony of any sort. The mistake I made was that I ignored the sting. I did this, of course, in ignorance. To my surprise, a few days later it became irritating; so I tried a drop of medicinal fluid on it. This made it much worse, and inflammation set in. It subsided in time, but, to make a long story short, the spot caused by the sting got better and then worse, as I was able, or unable, during the next two years and a half, to apply Christian Science treatment. In 1914 the swelling suddenly extended over one side of my face, reaching the eye. Great pain and inflammation caused fear; and when a running sore appeared, I decided to write to England at once to a Christian Science practitioner of whom I had heard, for treatment, and letters then took about a fortnight to travel between India and England. At the end of that time I awoke one morning to find I was healed. This proved the power of God, and showed that space and time are but mortal illusions. There were about seven thousand miles between the practitioner and me; and we met for the first time six years later.
I have had so many healings and so much help in many other ways in Christian Science that I should need to write other testimonies to tell of them. I take this opportunity to thank again the kind practitioner for the splendid demonstration. Words can never express the feeling of joy and gratitude I experienced. I am very, very grateful to God, to our Master, and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for Christian Science.—(Mrs.) Constance Mary Obbard, Hythe, Kent, England.
