It is a well-known fact that Christian Science is a spiritual religion, based upon the teachings and practice of Christ Jesus. It accepts all that the Master taught; and its followers are practicing and proving these teachings. There are thousands of people, many of whom were formerly ministers and church officers, who have for years conscientiously studied the Bible as spiritually interpreted by the writings of Mrs. Eddy, and have found Christian Science to be demonstrably true, because based upon divine Principle. Furthermore, these students have been able to prove the teachings of Christ Jesus by those signs which he said should "follow them that believe." Unfortunately, many ministers fail to grasp the spiritual import of Christian Science, and judge it from a material basis. Frequently such critics rely upon the testimony of enemies of Christian Science instead of seeking evidence from those who know and can demonstrate its teachings. A casual reading of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, by one prejudiced against what he thinks Christian Science is, will not give to that one any concept of the spiritual teachings of Christian Science.
