Faith healing, as commonly understood, is blind, unintelligent trustfulness that God will heal. In Christian Science the step is taken from trustfulness to trustworthiness. Not only do we trust, but by a right application of God's laws, we know that He heals. Thus, healing in Christian Science is not by faith born of belief alone, but of understanding. The practice of material medicine is a human method. Christian Science healings result from the application of the truth that God is the only cause, and that causation is, therefore, spiritual. The human or mortal and the spiritual or immortal are antipodes of each other. Therefore material medicine and Christian Science cannot successfully collaborate.
