Mr. Henry Wilson, well-known sculptor and architect, at the opening of the Exhibition by the Netherland-England Society, said, "Art is power against war and destruction; it is the enemy of ruin and misery. It rises out of love, creates subjects worthy of true love, and thus begets love. It also cultivates complete honesty and frankness, which is so needed at present; and in this way draws to itself many splendid qualities."
