It is open to every one to find in the gospels the test of a true disciple, given by Christ Jesus himself. He said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments;" "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature;" "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils;" "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also;" "By their fruits ye shall know them;" "These signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink and deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

Christian Scientists use these tests unreservedly, and others given by the Master, in judging themselves, as to how far they may or may not be measuring up to the standard of the true Christian. They accept no lower standard; nor do they seek to judge other Christian churches which do not see as they do. They are grateful to the churches for the good they do and have done, and for the expression of good wherever manifested. The remarkable growth of the Christian Science church, which in less than half a century has become established over the civilized globe, has come about because, through humbly following the Master, many marvelous works have been wrought in his name in the present day through the light which Christian Science has thrown upon the Scriptures. Christian Science is indeed the reinstatement of primitive Christianity with its healing ministry.
