The Scriptures clearly show that evil or devil is not a person. If it were a person, where it is written of Jesus that he cast seven devils out of Mary Magdalene, the meaning would be that he cast seven persons out of one. Christian Science teaches that the carnal, or so-called mortal mind, as Paul defines it, is "enmity against God;" and from it seems to proceed all evil, sin, disease, and death. In Christian Science the specific term for the supposititious activities of mortal mind is animal magnetism. Thus, by the use of this term, we refer to error of every kind.
