Christian Science teaches that all God created is real, substantial, and enduring, while the offspring of the carnal or mortal mind is unreal, deceptive, and delusive in its nature. Since there is no real pleasure or joy or any good in sin, we fail to see why it should be classed as real simply because it seems to exist in the minds of mortals. We reject it on the ground that it is untrue, a lie; while we accept all that is good, because we know it to be real and true. All reality is in God and His perfect creation. Showing the sinner this has proved a mighty power in loosing him from the bonds of sin. Every system of religion is known by its fruits. Believing in sin, one will always have it with him; classing it as a lie and rejecting it, one is free from it.

Mrs. Eddy says in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 339): "A sinner can receive no encouragement from the fact that Science demonstrates the unreality of evil, for the sinner would make that reality of sin,—would make that real which is unreal, and thus heap up 'wrath against himself,—against day of wrath.' He is joining in a conspiracy against himself,—against his own awakening to the awful unreality by which he has been deceived." And on page 203 of the same book she says, "Sin kills the sinner and will continue to kill him so long as he sins." The effort of the true Christian Scientist is to heal the sick and to save the sinner.
