I should like to express my gratitude, through the Christian Science Sentinel, to God and to Mary Baker Eddy for the healing which has come to me through Christian Science, and for the faithful efforts on my behalf of loving practitioners, who have helped me to learn how to work out my own salvation, as the gospel teaches.

When Christian Science came into my life, I was suffering from a complication of troubles, physical and mental, including nervous exhaustion and mental depression, and was unable to do any useful work or to care for my family. My loss of health was occasioned partially by improper care at the birth of my only child; and other worries had added to my seeming helplessness. I was also grieving over the loss of a dear sister. I found the teachings of my church insufficient support in this time of need, and had tried all that materia medica had to offer without gaining relief from my physical suffering. I had submitted to two surgical operations; and was told that another operation, for the removal of tumor and adhesions, would not cure the difficulty, but would in itself be a cause rather than a cure of further adhesions. This led me to the conclusion that I should have to seek other means for regaining my health. After I had begun to pray to God to restore my health, Christian Science was presented to me in a most unexpected way, and I decided to investigate it.

In June, 1916, I attended my first Christian Science service and read Christian Science literature for the first time. Since then Christian Science has met all my needs,—physical, financial, moral, and spiritual. It has helped me over many difficulties, and has changed my life from one of helpless dependence on others to one of harmony and peace and usefulness. The understanding of the Christ, as Christian Science teaches, has proved to be for me "the way, the truth, and the life," and it has been amply proved in my experience that this Christ, Truth, does "unto the heavy burdens" and "let the oppressed go free."
